On my current AAdvantage Citi Visa statement I received a notice that the annual fee of $85 would appear on my next bill. I had opened the card last year and received 75,000 bonus miles after I spent $1,500 on the card and the annual fee for the first year was waived.
When I called Citi I explained that I was thinking about canceling the card because of the high $85 annual fee. The representative offered me an $85 statement credit that is to appear on my bill in 1-2 billing cycles. In addition I was offered 500 bonus miles per billing cycle for the next 16 billing cycles when I spend at least $500 on the card. I accepted the offer and I plan to I earn more bonus miles each billing cycle with no annual fee costs for the year.
