Beautiful Day In The Windy City

This morning my husband and I flew Southwest Airlines from Philadelphia to Chicago. Our flight departed on time and arrived 20 minutes early. The total cost for both of us to fly was less than $200, since my husband flies free as my companion until the end of this year. Southwest works for us because it get us where we need to go, on time, without canceling or changing our flights at reasonable prices.

We took the train from Midway Airport into the city. The cost was $2.25 each for the 30 minute ride. We walked a few blocks to the Intercontinental Magnificent Mile Hotel where we are using my annual free night from my Priority Club Visa. It was about to expire and I certainly did not want a free night to go unused.

As a Platinum member I was given an upgraded spacious room on a high floor with four large windows with a view of the city. The bathroom has a separate soaking tub and corner marble shower with a full glass front. Agraria bath products are provided by the hotel.

The weather in Chicago today was cool, windy and sunny. It was perfect weather for walking. We enjoyed window shopping on Michigan and walking along Lake Shore Drive. For an afternoon sweet snack we stopped into Garrett Popcorn for some delicious samples of their caramel corn with almonds, pecans and cashews.

Tonight we are going to see the show Kinky Boots with music and lyrics by Cyndi Lauper. We purchased our tickets earlier today half price at Hot Tix for $107 for the pair. We went to the Randolph street location after lunch and there was a long list of shows with half price tickets available. The best part was there were no lines and no waiting for discount tickets.

Looking forward to dinner and the show tonight and spending the rest of the weekend in Chicago with many frequent travelers.
