Traveling is a thrill for me. I love arriving in at place whether it is somewhere I have never been before or back to a city I visit often. This week I am in New York City enjoying myself while my husband attends a tax conference.
We are staying for free for two nights in NYC at the Hyatt 48 Lex. I used 30,000 Ultimate Rewards points that I transferred into my Hyatt account. Each night at this hotel requires 15,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points. This is a new hotel with 116 rooms. For me the best feature of this hotel other than it location at 48th and Lexington Avenue is the second floor lounge that is available for all guests. It is just the right size with a great layout to relax and meet other travelers.
Yesterday I arrived at the hotel very early in the morning and no surprise my room was not ready. But I was able wait in the lounge and have a light breakfast of tea, fruit and a mini muffin.
After breakfast I met Maria while reading the newspaper in the lounge. She has been earning and burning frequent flyer miles since 1989. Of course we had plenty to talk about and shared our passion of traveling well at significantly reduced prices. She was not aware of the fact that many of us share this hobby and when I told her about the Chicago Seminar Do in October she got very excited and wanted to know she could get a ticket. If anyone has an extra ticket, please email me at frugaltravellawyer@gmail.com.
Off to check out some sample sales this morning and then lunch in Central Park.Tonight we are looking forward to watching tennis matches at the US Open.
