Credit Card Churn Time

It has been more than 90 days since my husband’s last credit card churn. This week my husband applied and was approved for three new cards.

1-Chase Ink Bold Business MasterCard charge card. There is no annual fee for the first year. After his first purchase he will earn 25,000 Ultimate Rewards bonus points. Another 25,000 bonus points are earned after spending $10,000 in the first 3 months in addition to the points earned for purchases. These points are valuable because they are transferable to a number of hotel and airlines programs at a 1:1 ratio including British Airways, Hyatt, Marriott, Priority Club, Southwest and United Airlines.

By using the Ink Bold card to charge phone, internet, cable and purchases at office supply stores, he will earn 5 points for each dollar spent. Buying gift cards, phone cards and prepaid VISA and AMEX cards at office supply stores with the Ink Bold also earns 5 points per dollar. At gas stations and hotels earn 2 points per dollar. Here is the link for the Ink Bold Business MasterCard.

After applying online my husband received a message stating, “Your application requires further review before we make a decision.” He called the Chase Business reconsideration line 800-453-9719. The representative was very helpful, asked him about 10 questions and needed to put him on hold before he was approved for this card. Since he already has 4 other personal Chase VISA cards, he needed to move some of his credit from another Chase card to this new Ink Bold MasterCard.

2-Barclay US Airways Dividend Miles Premier World MasterCard. My husband was instantly approved by Barclay. After his first purchase he will receive 40,000 bonus miles. In addition card members receive one complementary airport lounge pass, preferred check-in and boarding, a $99 companion pass for one flight, and a 5,000 mile discount off of each award booking from your US Airways Dividend Miles account when flying on US Airways. Here is the link to apply for this credit card offer.

3-Fairmont Chase VISA. There is no annual fee for the first year. After spending $1,000 on the card in the first 3 months we will receive 2 free nights with breakfast for 2 at any Fairmont hotel worldwide. Here is the link to my post about all of the benefits of this credit card. We plan to be in Maui in November and use our free nights at the Fairmont Kea Lani, an all suite property. The free nights from my Fairmont VISA are already booked.

After applying online he received a message stating, “Your application requires further review before we make a decision.” He called the Chase personal reconsideration line 888-245-0625. Again my husband requested to move credit from another Chase card to this one he was approved for the Fairmont VISA.

We are getting close to meeting the minimum spending on my churn from last month. Hopefully by the time my husband’s three new cards arrive we will be ready to start meeting the minimum spend requirements on his new cards.

  1. When I click the link to your Fairmont credit card, I get “You are not allowed to edit this item.” Suggstions?

    • It appears the Fairmont Visa is no longer available. It was a limited time offer. I first wrote about it back in May. Hopefully, this or a similar offer will be available again for the Fairmont Visa.

      • OK, Thanks! I just discovered you yesterday and I look forward to learning lots from you. Nice site! Do you find Word Press easy to work with? I’m looking into it as an option.
