Here is a link to a great post from The Points Guy about the top 10 mistakes with airline miles. The biggest mistake I make is number 4 on his list. The dining reward programs can be a great way to earn some extra miles and keep your miles from expiring. Since I have increased the number of my credit cards applications, I have not been willing to take the time to link each new card to all of the dining reward programs for every program that I am now a member. These big credit card bonuses have really spoiled me.
In the past as part of my trip planning I would check the dining reward programs for the cities I was traveling to and try to include restaurants from the programs to earn more miles while traveling. The last several times I checked none of the restaurants I wanted to try were included in the the dining reward programs. Just last week my friend Meryl reminded me that one of my favorite local restaurants does participate. I had earned miles in the past from this restaurant, but I changed the cards in my wallet and just forgot about this benefit. So I plan to try to remember and not leave miles on the table.
