Home from San Diego

We had a wonderful fun filled four days in San Diego with our two sons. We celebrated my younger son’s birthday while we were there. Two boxes of delicious complimentary mini cupcakes were delivered to each of our rooms from Heavenly Cupcakes located around the corner from the hotel.

I would highly recommend Hotel Indigo. It is located in the Gaslamp Quarter and has a very relaxing ocean feel to it. To me it seemed more like a boutique hotel than one part of the Holiday Inn chain. There are lots of restaurants and shops in the area and as I mentioned in my last post, PETCO Park is two blocks away. We all slept great in our rooms on the 8th floor. Darren at the front desk was always helpful and pleasant. Another great feature was the two iPads available for guests of the hotel to use in the lobby in addition to the two computers which we used to print our boarding passes.

The weather in San Diego was perfect every day with lows in the mid-50s and highs in the mid-60s. We all enjoyed walking and touring the city from Little Italy to Balboa Park. It is a short ferry ride to Coronado Island. We caught the ferry from behind the convention center. As soon as we arrived we rented bikes and toured the island for a couple of hours. We rode to Hotel Del Coronado a National Historic Landmark built in 1888. After our ride we enjoyed lunch outside along the water. We bought cupcakes to take back for the game from Coronado Cupcakery. They were pretty to look at and even better to enjoy eating.

The Phillies swept the Padres and we got to see three of the games, including game three that ended with another win in the 11th inning.
